Description
This is looking down on part of 1000 Islands Environmental Center in Kaukauna. I find this part of the Fox River very beautiful. The way the snow and ice shows the flow of the river's many separate paths is really amazing. This shot is a vertical pano, created from 4 images stitched together in the computer, all were shot from around 380 feet. At the top of the image the camera was looking West, at the bottom, the camera was looking straight down. As you can see there are a lot of rapids. It appears there is also a lot of living green algae which is surprising in cold February. But the water here is warmer than in most of the Fox River, I think it is because of the Paper Mill up river. The large trees are almost invisible due to a coating of snow and another coating of frost from all the humidity that rises from the rapids in the subzero air. Wisconsin is very scenic in the Winter!
